After an informal conversation with Sue —name changed— I've reconsidered my initial idea of having a merkin that reacts to females sexual arausal, and began exploring the scenario around anti-rape devices. As she explained, having that female arausal less evident than male bodies made her felt somewhat empowered, even though there still are visible signs around it. This is one reason I've started exploring beyond this idea, onto a mix between merkins, body-reactive and carnivorous plants.

The scenario I've started looking at is contemporary ways of avoiding rape. Even though I'm aware that the conversation, or speculative design shouldn't be directed towards avoiding rape from the victims perspective but guided towards the perpetrators, I've began exploring female anti-rape devices nonetheless.
